Nigel Snook
It is with great sadness that we have to report that Nigel passed away over the weekend following a long struggle with illness. Nigel was a major supporter of all things musical in Burnham-on-Sea and a massive contributor to the Ritz Acoustic Club.

Always outspoken, Nigel had a passion for the guitar and performance, and was always willing to give his time to help people develop their musical skills through tuition, guidance and support.
Nigel’s own performances were always polished and sincere, whether it was with the electric or acoustic guitar (of which he had many), the banjo or other weird stringed instrument, his ability to move effortlessly from flamenco to blues or classical left his audience in awe of his skills. He loved to participate, and jam with others, and we shall always remember him entertaining us all.
Our thoughts go out to his wonderful wife Linda and family.
The funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s Church, Burnham-on-Sea on Monday 12th November at 11.30am, and then at Worle Crematorium.

You always gave me such drive and ambition in music. I loved to watch you on stage with you smiling from ear to ear and loved to walk up into your studio and just hang with you and my dad. I loved talking about you to my friends and telling them how great you were. I’ll miss your humour, i’ll miss helping you and my dad set up for gigs, but most of all, i’ll miss you for you. My uncle. I will always be proud to be a Snook, everytime i walk out onto a stage i’ll think of you and know that you’ll be there with me, and play one for you
“Time and space can never divide
Or keep your loved one from your side
When memory paints in colors true
We will all continue to always love you.”
Love you Uncle Nigel, and always will. Carl

As a young 16-year-old watching Nigel on stage playing along side Phillip (Shag) I used to think, “I wish I could play and sing like thatâ€. They both made it look so effortless and when Nigel played the songs “Sandman†and “Paint it blackâ€, he would just blow me away, I knew I had to start playing, but I had a problem, I couldn’t afford a guitar or amplifier, Nigel knew this and kindly lent me both and started me on my way to becoming a guitarist, pointing me in the right direction and encouraged me to play in bands rather than just being a bedroom basher… 19 years on and I’m still playing in bands (Relocate etc) and enjoying the music that Nigel helped me find. Thank you Nigel, you will always be in my thoughts. X

I worked with Nigel in the building trade in northampton in the 70’s and remember well the fit’s of laughter we shared. Also the boozy nights watching him play in “the Keep” on his guitar made out of a scaffold plank. A lovely man, so sad to hear of his passing.
